Welcome To PACODEP

PACODEP started as a private initiative of George Achibra in Kete-Krachi in the late nineties. As a schoolteacher, "Teacher George" is very much concern about the well-being of his children at the Henkel School in Kete-Krachi. Very soon he became the advocate of not only the children but also of the deprived people, women and human rights in general of Kete-Krachi and far beyond. His passion for decent and prosperous life for children is natural. This became very strong when he was made a circuit supervisor in charge of some schools on the islands in Krachi West District. Working on the lake, the difficulties of children sold into slavery to work in the fishing industry confronted and stared at his face for for solution. What really jolted him into real action was the case of a trafficked boy who was severely beaten up for apparently losing the day's sales or money after selling doughnuts. Tired and asleep after the day's work, this boy's sales for the day were taken by his master's wife who was then passing by. "The child who was seized with fear after the sleep was later brought to him and delivered to the mother." He admonished the mother to take good care of the boy, thinking that it was going to end the woes of the child. Thereafter, the child was retrafficked to the high seas and that compelled George to intervened and rescued him. His parents were traced to Aboasi near Takoradi and to his surprise, many of such children were facing similar difficulties. PACODEP was formed in 2003 to deal with thses issues decisively and effectively.
